Great writing
Gray's Sporting Journal is amazing.
My primary reason for subscribing to GSJ for several years now is the quality and style of the writing. This is one of the few journals that I read cover to cover, every article. Articles on freshwater and saltwater fishing, waterfowl, upland game and big game are well balanced and high quality. If you are looking for a magazine with a focus on the biggest fish caught or the largest antler on the wall, like mamy of the grocery store magazines, this is probably not for you. If you are a person that enjoys hunting and fishing as much for the experience and the opportunity to recharge your mind and spirit, you will find this journal a pleasure. Seven issues per year. Each about 130 pages. Heavyweight cover and inside, thicker paper than many other magazines with ink that doesn't smear over the page or on your hand.
There are advertisements for guns and equipment as well as outfitters and guides, however, the number is not overwhelming.
